Distorted Reality and Salvage are the perfect examples of the cuts which Friske has been detonating infront crowds throughout his career. The first track featured is ‘Distorted Reality’ and it takes you through slamming motions of thumping kick drums and sliding patches of percussion, the type which add the driving weight behind its impact. It’s easy to hear the old-school sounds which are a characteristic of his production. He merges the contemporary and the genre’s past; in doing so, he brings jungle through a more contemporary lens.
On the flipside you’re introduced to ‘Salvage’ – it’s just as destructive as its predecessor, cutting through with the upmost precision and proving that Friske has more weaponry within his arsenal. ‘Salvage’ carries itself on top of growling bass pads and clanking, metallic drum sequences, dragging you out into the deep and Friske turns up the heat. There’s a melodic undertone which makes itself know throughout the composition but Friske still goes for the jugular with his production. For a first release, this is a standard which only an artist like Friske can set. And it shows just how imperative the imprint will prove to be across the coming years.

well done! pure dope, fantastic output by quartz. metalheadz is such a great label! quartz has his own sound, blacklist fits perfectly to the metalheadz tradition. it is both kind of retro and futuristic. highly recommended, play it loud, the bass kicks:-) that's the way i like it. quartz became quickly my favourite producer in this kind of music. dub orange
